Couple of Updates
July 17th, 2007
Just a couple of quick updates for everyone.
First, we’re proud to announce that we’re now officially part of the TRIP Database. We appreciate TRIP’s good work and are happy that they allow our images to reach a broader audience.
Also, we’ve just started adding from a new collection of kodakchrome slides we’ve been lucky enough to get our hands on. Keep an eye out for some awesome new images.
The Physician Prosumer
June 18th, 2007
I ran across this video on Techcrunch:
Even putting aside the irresistibly 1984-esque overtones of the work, I believe in the rise (and the creation of the term) “prosumer.” In a decidedly dnobo-like fashion, prosumer comes from the combination of producer + consumer, and suggests that the line between those who create media and those who consume it will blur until the two groups are indistinguishable. This idea is central to dnobo. The fast majority of our users will definitely be consumers. In an old post discussing Bradley Horowitz’s ideas on “Creators, Synthesizers, and Consumers,” he outlines the growth of social networks:

Our challenge at dnobo is that we’re stuck purely in the middle. Without content, we can’t get consumers, and people don’t want to share until they have audience to share with. So while we’ve made dnobo public and put it online to begin the grand search engine ladder climb (hello google and yahoo rankings), it seems as though we’re going to need to push further before others feel comfortable climbing on board.
So that’s what we’ll do. For those with other advice, feel free to leave a comment below.
Hey! Let’s get started.

So after a year of development and private testing, we’re reading for the prime-time (kind of!).
A big thanks to everyone who is helping us test out the site at these early stages. We’ll keep on posting updates regarding bugs and new features here, but in the meantime make sure you use the feedback button to let us know what we’re doing right and what we can work on to make this the best experience possible.
And of course, if you want to join our team and help build dnobo, just drop us a line: info@dnobo.com.
