She had failed both oral antibiotics and natural therapies but refused to travel to Guatemala City where she could be evaluated and receive appropriate therapy. According to the patient the eye produced a large volume of mucus every day and she needed to wash it for several minutes in the morning in order to open it. A closer examination of the eye revealed a layer of granulation tissue and debris completely covering the eyeball; the patient had lost sight several months previously. |
